Labour Together is the fastest growing think-tank in Britain, building a growing team of the best political strategists and policy brains in Britain.

We are seeking to hire an experienced Senior Policy Advisor to join our growing Policy Team. Reporting to the Director of Industrial Strategy and Clean Energy, this role will help shape how a future Labour government’s industrial strategy can deliver growth, security and the transition to net zero for the UK.


The Role

Key responsibilities and functions:

  • Lead robust, evidence-based policy analysis to produce advice and publications that will help define key policy decisions for a future Labour government

  • Undertake research and monitoring on a range of industrial strategy issues

  • Help to grow and develop our networks across the broad range of issues that encompass industrial strategy

  • Brief and consult with a range of senior political, business, and academic leaders; building coalitions and crowding in diverse perspectives

  • Design and run public and private events to help us develop, test and communicate our ideas

  • Contribute to the strategy and development of the Policy Team, and of the wider organisation

Key competences, attributes and experience:

  • First-rate written and spoken communication skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, able to gather, interrogate and summarise large volumes of written and numerical evidence to draw out the most significant implications

  • A commitment to creative problem solving and seeking out diverse ideas and solutions

  • Organised, self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously under changing circumstances

  • 5-8 years experience in policy, in a relevant area, inside or outside the public service

  • An excitement about Labour Together’s strategy and direction

  • Motivated by robust policy development and thought leadership around industrial strategy, climate change, net zero, growth and productivity

  • Strong team player, with excellent interpersonal skills

Our offices are at Millbank, London, where we work in person three days a week. In addition, we often take meetings with stakeholders at other times, typically around Westminster. The role may require occasional travel for conferences, events, or stakeholder engagements.
